This is clearly unacceptable and anti-democratic. Aung San Suu Kyi should be released immediately and allowed to run in the next election.

Immediate release is desirable, yet the sliver of wisdom peeked through, she was allowed to return home and not imprisoned in a jail.
Aung San Suu Kyi dignity and grace shines through and may miss the elections however takes home with her today the hope of a nation,as a step of wisdom did take place.
To start to walk it takes but one step. I salute her and wish her well.

It's sad to see that Burma is picked on for some reason while other countries with non-democratic regimes are allies of USA and UK. The dual standards of western countries.

Suu Kyi is guilty of treason for collaborating with the CIA and organizations under its control. The Myanmarese courts, instead of imposing sentences more proportionate to her crimes, have shown nothing but restraint. The fundamental problem in Myanmar lies in the ongoing campaign in the country by reactionary liberals with the support of imperialist forces in trying to recolonize the country. They want to sabotage Myanmar's friendship with China and open the country up for the penetration of foreign capital.
